Discover Suspension Bridge Construction Technology with 5 World-Leading Speakers

For a long time, suspension bridges have not only served as vital transportation solutions but also stood as architectural icons and symbols of technological pride for many countries around the world. In Vietnam, this type of bridge is increasingly receiving attention and being chosen for its high aesthetic value, ability to create distinctive landscapes, and capacity to affirm regional cultural identity.

In this context, the International Seminar 'Suspension Bridges – From Design to Construction'—jointly organized by Minh Duc Group in collaboration with the University of Transport and Communications, OVM, and Tecco1—has become a prestigious forum where experts, researchers, and businesses can engage in academic exchange, share practical experiences, and introduce advanced construction technologies.

The event brings together leading global speakers in the field of suspension bridge design and construction.

11. Professor, PhD Tran Duc Nhiem

Presentation: “Emerging Trends in Bridge Construction in Vietnam”

1Opening the conference, Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Nhiem—a leading expert in probability theory and reliability in bridge and tunnel design, who has devoted over half a century to research and teaching at the University of Transport and Communications—will deliver the presentation 'Trends in Bridge Construction Development in Vietnam.

With his insightful analyses and strategic vision, his presentation is expected to provide important guidance for the future development of the bridge and road sector.

2. Professor Xiao Rucheng

Presentation: Fundamental Principles of Suspension Bridge Design

1Renowned as one of the most prominent figures in the global bridge engineering community, Professor Xiao Rucheng currently serves as President of the China Civil Engineering Society – Bridge and Structural Engineering Division, and as a PhD supervisor at Tongji University.

Professor Xiao’s presentation is expected to offer the conference far-reaching perspectives on design principles as well as emerging development trends of suspension bridges.

3. Mr. Xie Zhengyuan

Presentation: Advances in OVM Cable System Technology

1In his role as Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer of OVM, Mr. Xie Zhengyuan is not only a researcher but also a pioneer in advancing modern cable anchorage technologies, making significant contributions to the development of large-scale bridge projects.

At the conference, he will share his experience and vision on OVM cable system technology, opening up prospects for its effective application in infrastructure projects in Vietnam.

4. Mr. Han Yuepeng

Presentation: Construction Techniques for Suspension Bridges

1As Chief Engineer at CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., Mr. Han Yuepeng is recognized as a leading expert in the construction of large-scale bridge projects. He has been directly involved in numerous iconic global projects, such as the Huanghe Phoenix Bridge in Jinan and the Tanyun Yangtze River Bridge—the world’s largest three-tower suspension bridge.

At the conference, he will share valuable practical experience on construction solutions, structural control, and technologies for launching super-long and super-heavy steel girders—key factors that could open new directions for bridge projects in Vietnam.

5. Mr. Bui Tran Long

Presentation: Design Solutions for Suspension Bridges in Quang Ngai and Nha Trang

1With over 30 years dedicated to Vietnam’s bridge engineering sector, Mr. Bui Tran Long—Chairman of the Board of Tecco1 (Traffic Construction Investment Consulting JSC 1)—has been directly involved in the research and design of Vietnam’s first suspension bridges, such as Tra Khuc 1 Bridge (Quang Ngai) and Phu Kieng Bridge (Khanh Hoa), laying an important foundation for the development of this bridge type in the country.

Drawing from his experience in implementing major projects in Quang Ngai and Nha Trang, he will share valuable lessons that help the conference better connect theory with practice.

International Forum – Bridging Academia and Practice

The convergence of domestic and international experts at this conference promises to offer diverse perspectives, ranging from theoretical foundations and advanced technologies to practical experience. It provides an opportunity for scientists, managers, and businesses in Vietnam’s transportation sector to engage with emerging trends while expanding international collaboration in the design and construction of suspension bridges.
